It’s been three days since I got back from an almost unplanned trip to Rio de Janeiro and although coming “back to reality” is not such a bad thing when you happen to live in San Diego, California (which is like living on an ongoing vacation by the way) I am having a hard time trying to process that one week of amazing experiences.
Rio is a vibrant city, full of colors and life, incomparable to others…and as I replay every moment in my mind, I’d like to share with you the things I realized after such a memorable adventure.
That sometimes all you need is to run away from daily routine to clear up your mind.
That our hearts can be content with so little. When was the last time you saw the sunrise?
That As the famous Brazilian writer Paulo Coelho said, encounters with other people are planned by the souls long before the bodies see each other. That we are meant to meet certain people in our lives, either for something good or to learn a lesson.
That there is so much beauty and uniqueness in every corner of this world.
That we could be so much happier if we weren’t so distracted. Life is not dull; it is just that we don’t stop to look around.

That you got to take chances. Say yes even if you think you’ll regret it later, because if you say no, you are going to regret anyways (but to say no when you really want to say no).
That true friends would travel miles just to see you again.
To appreciate our body for everything it does for us. It may not be perfect but it is truly a wonderful thing to be able to see, smell the fruits, touch the sand and other people’s hands…use our legs to run, to dance, and our lips to try new foods and kiss, kiss a lot.
That kindness is what makes the world go round and round.
To cherish every moment and take many, many pictures so that we don’t ever forget.
P.S. “We travel, initially, to lose ourselves; and we travel next, to find ourselves.”
